he smiles at her and for half a beat octavia’s not sure what to make of it. before they were even off the dropship the other delinquents were already whispering about her. they’d done the same thing the first time she walked into their earth survival skills class with professor pike. but this boy doesn’t seem to hold the same attitudes as the other kids. he seems friendly even. before she can make a decision on whether or not she could trust the boy or even ask his name his hand reaches for hers and they’re off. quickly moving through the forest trees and bushes after a blue butterfly. so far, octavia loved this place. it was beautiful and so much more than she could have ever imagined. bellamy was here to and it was like she truly was getting a second shot at a life.
when the boy beside her points out the glowing blue butterfly octavia’s emerald hues instantly grow wide. the butterfly was something so magnificent and for more than a few moments the brunette can’t tear her eyes away. without realizing, she takes a few steps forward, curiously watching as the insect fluttering along the branch. hesitantly, she reaches a finger outwards wondering if she would be so lucky that the butterfly would flock to her. moments pass and nothing happens so her attention shifts back to the boy. a wide smile on her lips. “you know my name, but i don’t know yours.” she says just before feeling a tickle along her finger. hues glance back and to her surprise the blue butterfly had come closer.
He saw the hesitation on her face, and just kept the soft smile on his to try and reassure her. He wasn’t going to be rude to her or judge her like the others were; Bryan was a kind, sweet boy who had never really held a grudge or been upset with someone for more than a day. It’d take a lot to break him of that. Kind, trusting, probably much too trusting as his mother had always said, but he couldn’t really help it. Still, he’s hoping that she’s just as kind, and besides; who could really say no to going and seeing the beautiful butterfly?
Bryan’s face lit up when he saw the way Octavia reacted to seeing the butterfly, happy to see her happy. He watched her, tilting his head a little as she reached out towards the insect and wondering what it would do, if anything. At her words, he chuckled and opened his mouth to reply, but then gasped when the butterfly had come closer to her hand. “Wow,” He whispered, stepping forward slowly, “It likes you! I’m Bryan, by the way. So that you know my name too. Bryan Nolan.”
Me: I’m going to watch Game of Thrones over from the beginning.
Bryan: Yeah, I like that show… I think I’d be a Tyrell.
They’d taken the bunker. They’d taken the bunker and they were safely inside, but Bryan couldn’t help but feel nervous. They’d gone behind the backs of everyone above ground, just to save themselves. And… Bryan was regretting it. Why had he come? He should have stayed outside or at Arkadia, not be locked in a bunker with his ex and the others new boy. He had loitered near the office where he knew Clarke was for a few minutes, before reaching out and knocking on the door, opening it and stating softly, “Can I talk to you for a minute?”

Murphy laughed a little and hooked his chin against Brian’s shoulder, resting his head there. He let his eyes close and his hand slowed but didn’t stop its action. It hardly provided reassurance that he knew Bryan longed for, but maybe it offered comfort. “I wouldn’t bet on it.” He wasn’t as good with words. He was also too cynical to believe that they could live anywhere peacefully without being attacked. There’d probably be survivors. They’d probably be angry. Or maybe not. Five years could change a lot. “We have time before we have worry about it at least.”
Bryan couldn’t help the faint nuzzle he gave when he felt Murphy hook his chin over his shoulder, enjoying the feeling and just grateful the other was there for him. Comfort was always good to have, even if he was still nervous and slightly afraid most of the time. He sighed softly at hearing the older boy’s words, lightly poking at his hand in return for it. “I know,” He spoke softly then, “We’ve got plenty of time to just worry in general though. At least most of the ones down here seem to follow ‘tavia and not attack anyone, I guess.”
i love talking headcanons over ships with partners. even if it’s something that may never happen, i just love the discussion of the ship regardless. literally talking for hours in cap locks over two muses you care for so much is amazing. and it makes you feel good knowing your partner is as dedicated as you are and thinks about your two muses in different situations too.
