Ever since returning from Farm Station and blowing up the hydrogenerator to save Riley and the others instead of bringing it back, things had been difficult. He’d fought with Nathan about it, and had walked off, desperate to try and clear his head and focus on calming down. He knew that he and Nathan had been through such different things, and that they had differing opinions on what to do, even if Bryan couldn’t exactly understand why Nathan thought that way. No matter what though, he loved the older boy.
He hadn’t gone back to Nathan’s room yet; their room? He wasn’t sure at this point if Nathan even wanted him back in there after he’d shrugged the other off and walked away from him like that. Surely though, Nathan realized that he hadn’t meant to push the other away completely; only that he needed to take a breather and take a walk before he started crying. Because, he did feel like crying. He felt like crying over everything that had happened to all of them.
Instead of going back to the room, he took an extra guard shift, despite the muttering from Bellamy telling him to just go talk to Nathan. He was exhausted and it was noticeable; being at Farm Station again had torn him up, and he was more worried that the nightmares that he’d suffered from before were going to come back again. So, instead of going to the common area to sleep, he was going to keep trying to stay guard, to protect those he loved.
It was a long night, and the gun in his hands and the jacket on his body were both starting to feel so heavy. He put the safety on, sitting the gun down and focusing on unzipping his jacket some, just trying to ease the weight on his body, to try and keep himself awake and alert. His head felt so heavy though and he took sharp breaths in to keep from drifting off any, as he heard footsteps headed his way. Thinking it was just Bellamy or someone else coming to check on him, Bryan didn’t turn his head to look.
Then suddenly, there were arms, one around his shoulders, one hooking under his knees, scooping him up bridal style. Bryan froze, eye’s going wide and trying to figure out what was happening, when he realized who it was; who had picked him up and was now carrying him towards the ship to go inside.
Nathan.
“… Nate,” he spoke softly, breathless and surprised by the fact that the older boy was there, and that he was actually carrying him inside and towards their room. It was the soft, loving smile and the quick kiss to his forehead that helped calm him enough to just relax some in the other’s arms. He let his head fall against Nathan’s shoulder, eyes fluttering closed and feeling calm and at peace. Nathan didn’t hate him, and now they could work on things and make sure that everything was alright between them.
After some rest, of course.
