“Only if I return from exile to challenge your place as king. Duh.” She stressed the last word playfully. “But it would definitely be the first option, your dad’s too cool to threaten.”

He announced he was going to jump, and she shrieked as leapt from the roof, covering her eyes but peeking through the slats of her fingers to make sure he didn’t die- or at least, if he did, that she’d have something to explain to his father. When he landed on his feet, she dropped her hands, reaching out to smack his arm with a glare. “Are you insane?! You almost gave me a heart attack!”

“What? No, that’s Simba’s job. He goes home to challenge Scar! Do we need to rewatch this?” Bryan huffed out slightly at Fox, wrinkling his nose at her.

Once landed safely on the ground again, he was grinning ear to ear, though it disappeared and he yelped at the smack. “Ow!” He whined, “I’m sorry! I wasn’t trying to give you a heart attack! I just thought it looked super cool. Plus, the rope totally held up to let me get down before it fell, so it’s all good, right?”

foxofthe100:

“Well, you’re perfect so that won’t be hard.” She said with a wink. She held onto him tightly, peppering his cheek with playful kisses before pulling back and tossing her hair in a preening sort of way. “Everyone would be lost without me.” She teased. He had to get going soon, and Jasper would start wondering if she’d ditched him to crash Bryan and Miller’s date night if she didn’t leave, so she made a little phone gesture with her hand. “Call me tomorrow, let me know how it all went?”

Bryan couldn’t help the bright flush that colored his cheeks when Fox called him perfect. He had started to shake his head, but let out a startled squeak and then laughter instead, when Fox was peppering his cheeks with playful kisses. “Fox!” He chuckled and playfully stuck his tongue out at her, grinning though. “I mean, you don’t have to say that twice. I will freely admit that we would all be completely lost, and probably at wit’s end, without you.” He took a deep breath, taking one more look in the mirror, and then nodded his head. “I promise I’ll call you tomorrow and tell you everything,” He stated with a smile.

She tried to stop laughing, but she was still failing, especially when he glared at her. He thought he was so scary, but he wouldn’t hurt her if their lives depended on it, and his glare did nothing but make her giggle more.

She managed to get her chuckles under control as he got down to business, and she held her hands out to her sides as though presenting herself to him. “Why do you think I’m here. Tomorrow will be boring without you there.” She took the proffered broom, and went to the side of the barn, starting to sweep. “Jasper said I could get ready at his house so I don’t have to deal with the others,” ‘the others’ was code for her foster siblings, two other high school age fosters and a biological daughter to the Colonnas. She tried to only mention her foster family in passing, through vague references and codes like ‘the others’, as though that would keep people from knowing what she meant… even though most of her friends already knew or suspected. “And he and Monty are giving me a ride so I’ll actually be on time for once. Don’t die of shock.” She warned with a laugh. She was notoriously late thanks to her reliance on the schedule of the bus that was her only mode of transportation other than her feet.

“This is very, very correct,” Bryan stated seriously with a nod, “Could you imagine? You and the others would have such a boring time without me. You’d actually have to think up your own conversations for once!” He chuckled a little, but then nodded at her words. “Well, I’m glad to hear that you’ll be able to get ready at Jasper’s and be on time. I’d say maybe you’d be late, but if Monty is going to be with you two, probably not.” A smirk crossed his face and he quickly took a few steps back before she’d be able to get him, moving to grab another broom so they could work quickly.

She stepped back to admire her handiwork; thank god Jasper had needed help so often and made it hard for her not to figure out how to do it. Bryan looked good, so cute and grown up and dashing, and she grinned widely. She reached for his hands, holding them still. “You look amazing, Nate’s going to swoon when he sees you, and you’re not going to stick out. You look perfectly suited to a grown up, big-boy-date dinner, don’t worry so much.” She said with a reassuring squeeze of his hands.

Bryan took another deep breath, feeling his hands stop shaking so much as Fox held them. “Thank you,” He stated softly, smiling and his shoulders relaxing at her words, “I just want this to be perfect, you know?” He couldn’t help but chuckle then, “Especially since it’s such a grown up, big-boy-date dinner.” He squeezed her hands back, then smirked a bit and pulled her into a tight hug. “I’d be lost without you, you know that right?”

“One; I am Scar. I’m the Scar to your adorable and occasionally annoying Simba so there. And two; please don’t jump because I can’t catch you and even if I tried, you’d probably break me.” Her tone was still teasing, but there was genuine fear in her eyes that he might hurt himself getting down.

“So, that means when we grow up, I’m going to have to fling you off a rock so the hyenas can eat you?” Bryan quipped innocently, grinning even more at his friend, “Or are you threatening my father, cause that’s a little scary, Fox.” He snickered at her, shifting and scooting closer to the edge. “I’m not going to jump!” He added, “Watch!” He took hold of the rope, taking a deep breath, and then sliding off the edge of the roof. For a moment he swung on the rope, letting go of it as it wobbled and landing on his feet, just as the rope fell off the hook it had been on.

“Ta-da!” He chirped out, realizing he’d made it.

He was wearing headphones and couldn’t hear her, but still she smothered the giggles with her hand, her shoulders shaking wildly with the suppressed laughter as she watched him sing and dance along to the music in his earbuds. Fall Out Boy, one of their favorite bands, she knew it well. When he finally spotted her and his face flushed and his hands turned flustered, she burst out into full blown laughter, even as her hand still tried to hold it in.

“Long enough,” she gasped between chuckles. “Having fun, I see?”

Bryan narrowed his eyes at Fox; something that would would probably only be laughable though and not scary. “You’re so rude,” He huffed out, though the corners of his mouth were twitching up, finding it hard not to smile when Fox was laughing like that. He rolled his eyes playfully at her, shoving his phone and the headphones into his pocket.

“Enough,” He shrugged, “I have to get all the chores dad gave me done, or apparently I’m not allowed to go out tomorrow night. You wanna help?” He grinned, picking the broom up and offering it to her.

While cleaning was not one of Bryan’s favorite chores, he knew that he needed to get it done if he wanted to go out on the date Nate was planning for them the following evening. So, that’s where he’d found himself; broom in hand, sweeping out the barn like his father had asked him to. Of course, he wasn’t going to do it without something to listen to either.

His headphones in, Bryan was sweeping the loose hay, singing along loudly with the Fall Out Boy song that was blaring through the earbuds. “We’re only liars, but we’re the best,” He swayed along with the music, playfully spinning the broom around in his hand before sweeping a bit more, “We’re only go–”

It was as he spun around to sweep towards the door that his voice cut off and he turned a bright red. Dropping the broom to the floor, he hastily yanked the earbuds out of his ears and scrambled to turn the music on his phone off. It took a second to get it out of his pocket, but he quickly got it done.

“How long have you been standing there?” He sputtered out in embarrassment, looking at Fox.
