AU where in the last second before Octavia stabs Pike, Bryan manages to somehow get himself between the two, and gets stabbed instead. Bryan, who turned on Pike for the man he loved, but still sees Pike as the man who he owes, as the man who kept him alive through those four months they were stuck in Ice Nation, who still sees the man as a second father figure after his own father was killed, who is terrified of losing more people that he cares about because that’s all that seems to happen anymore and he can’t stand it, who is still desperate to fit in with the rest of the skaikru who have been together at Arkadia and needs reminded that he’s part of their family too and just as much a part of it, and who just wants the fighting to stop… Hobbling with his hurt leg after all the fighting it over, desperate to just have thing be at peace now, instead being the one impaled by Octavia’s sword.
