send me CEMETERY! for a starter where my character is visiting someone who’s passed away with your character.
Bryan had started the idea; others were so focused on moving on, on trying to keep living, on not having a moment to stop and rest… and Bryan felt that they all needed that. So he’d quietly started making little markers with twigs and vine, fashioning them together and putting them in a little plot of ground he’d found in the woods. Before them he wrote the names; his parents names, Iris, Gina. Slowly he’d continued to work at it, fashioning more and writing more names, of all those he could remember, all those he wanted to remember.
He heard footsteps coming up behind him and he scrambled to reach for his gun; they’d just gotten back from Polis and he was trying to add more names; but his leg was still healing from where he’d been shot and he was quickly realizing that with where he was sitting, a quick reaction to someone coming up behind him wasn’t going to happen. So, when he turned his head and saw that it was Raven walking towards him, he relaxed.
“Hey,” He offered her softly, a gentle smile on his face and flushing a little as he saw the raised eyebrow that Raven was giving him at seeing all of the markers that he had already put out. “I… I wanted a place to remember them,” He offered after a moment, “I thought that… if anyone wanted a place to come and just… remember or talk to them or something, that…”
He trailed off a little, taking a shaky breath and offering her a sheepish smile instead. “It sounds kinda stupid now that I try and explain it, but… I thought it might help,” He stated faintly then.
Normally, Murphy would have gotten irritated at someone else’s
pity. He didn’t want it, didn’t need it, and whoever showed it to him
usually got a fist to the face. But he couldn’t exactly punch Bryan, and
he found that he didn’t want to. There was real sympathy on his face,
and it endeared Murphy to the boy. Just a little. “Yeah, well.” He
raised one shoulder in a shrug. “It did feel good. And if I get floated, at least I’ll have gone out in style, you know?”
Not
that Murphy wanted to be floated; but there wasn’t anything he could do
about it now. He’d just survive for as long as he could, and when that
magical birthday came around, he’d give everyone involved the middle
finger before he was sucked out into the void of space like his dad.
“So,
you have anyone on the outside?” Murphy asked, surprised to find that
he was actually curious about the answer. “Girlfriend? Boyfriend? Mom
who is crying about her criminal son with his stolen seeds?”
Bryan nodded a little in understanding; he was sure that if he’d been in the same situation and done that, it would have been worth it too. Besides, it wasn’t like he hadn’t thought of doing something drastic after Nate had been arrested, so he couldn’t blame Murphy at all. “Yea,” he stated softly, “That’d be going out in style for sure, especially if it helped you feel a little better.”
He didn’t want the other to be floated, of course, but fire was something pretty big with the oxygen systems on the ark, right? Which was why he understood why the other seemed sure of it and why it made Bryan’s heart sink even more for him. He wished he could do something, anything to help.
When Murphy asked that question, his face turned red and he sheepishly rubbed at the back of his neck again. “Uh, Mom that’s probably super disappointed and worried, and dad that’s probably shaking his head about how dumb I am,” He offered, then after a pause added, “Boyfriend. Who, actually, is locked up in here too, and is probably going to find a way to kick my ass when he learns I’m locked up now as well.”
Bryan had been sitting in his and Nate’s room, trying to re-bandage the wound on his back. He’d been injured in Ice Nation, before they’d met up with the rest of Skaikru and been brought back to Arkadia. He’d winced a little when Gina had first hugged him, and had told her that it was just a scratch on his back that was still healing; he hadn’t exactly told her that it was a deeper gash that he’d gotten from a sword slicing him just as Iris had pulled him out of the way.
“That doesn’t look like a scratch.”
So, when Gina’s voice came from the doorway, he couldn’t help but jump. He hadn’t expected her voice when he’d heard the door opening; he’d fully expected it to be Nate, who already knew of his injury. He’d pulled some at the bandages and so he winced, before turning a little to face Gina better and offer her a soft, almost sheepish smile. Well, he was caught now, there was no denying that it wasn’t exactly just a scratch.
“I didn’t want to worry you any,” He responded softly, “I’m fine. I keep re-bandaging it. It’ll be just another scar to add to the list soon enough. I’m fine, promise.”

Reminder: Bryan hates ghost stories and is terrified of ghosts and spooky things and this is a 100% great opportunity for your muse to take him to a haunted house or trick or treating or tell him a ghost story or anything to scare the crap out of him and make him jump or scream because I think it’s hilarious.
Bryan: I want to write.
Me: We have memes to do and a reply to do.
Bryan: Hm… Let me think.
Gwen: Oh! I wanna write too!
Me: Okay, you have replies you can start and we can reblog some more memes.
Both: NAH.
Me: Wha–
Gwen: What if we write sad things? Those ideas you had earlier???
Me: … if I do that will you reply to memes and do your replies?
Everything was somber when Farm Station finally met up with the others and came back to Arkadia. Still, Bryan couldn’t help but feel happier than he had in months; they were together again, so many of them that had survived and were together. Even though he’d lost his parents, lost Iris, and the grounders were terrifying to him, he’d also gained Nate back, Gina, Monroe, Harper, Monty, Jasper, he had Hannah and Pike… A little happiness was needed, wasn’t it?
He’d been hanging out a lot with Nate and with the others, and spending a lot of time at the makeshift bar in Arkadia when Nate was working. He’d struck up a great friendship with Gina and he really adored the girl; but sometimes he felt she worried too much and worked too hard, and he really wished that she would smile a little more. After all, everyone deserved to smile.
It hadn’t really been thought out; Bryan wasn’t one to really scare people when he was such a scaredy cat himself, who hated ghosts and ghost stories. But Gina had her back turned to him, and the playful mood was there; Nate had done it to him before, why not surprise Gina? He’d started to creep up behind her where she was standing at the bar, hands out and ready to grab her arms and spook her. Just a few more steps and…
“Bryan Jay Nolan, don’t you even dare.”
Gina’s voice caused him to jump and go crashing into the bar with a wince of pain and a squeak of fright and surprise that she’d heard him. When she turned to look at him, the look on her face made him feel sheepish and he ducked his head quickly, scrambling back around to the correct side of the bar, like a scolded child. “Sorry,” He mumbled out sheepishly, offering her a tiny smile as a peace offering.
Seeds. This guy had gotten arrested for stealing seeds. Oh, wait, no – accidentally stealing seeds. That was either the most pathetic thing Murphy had heard, or the most heart-breaking. Though he doubted the kid would get floated when he turned eighteen with that kind of crime hanging over his head. From the way the kid looked at him – or didn’t – Murphy could tell he was embarrassed. Just waiting to be made fun of. Murphy considered it for a few moments, then decided the effort just wasn’t worth it. He just answered his question instead.
“A while back I got really sick. We ran out of medicine, so my dad stole some from med bay. I was still recovering when the officers came to arrest him.” That day was clear in Murphy’s mind, and he doubted he’d ever forget it. “They floated him, but I was still stuck in bed so I didn’t get to see.” And then his mom had started to hate him, died with the words on her lips, but this kid didn’t need to know that.
“I set fire to one of the officer’s quarters. I meant to do both, hoping at least one of them was inside, but they caught me before I could.” Murphy smiled. “A lot more serious than accidentally stealing some seeds, huh?”
Bryan couldn’t say just how grateful he was that the other boy wasn’t making fun of him for what he’d done; Bryan was already kicking himself enough for it, and he was sure that his parents were super upset at him as well. Who wants to be known as the parents of some little idiot that accidentally stole seeds and pulled them out in the lunch room when he forgot about them? Really?
He was quiet then, listening to what Murphy said, and he felt his heart sink and break as the story went on. “I… I’m so sorry,” He stated gently, “That’s horrible, and I’m sorry that happened to you. I… Honestly? I can’t blame you at all for going and setting the officers quarters on fire; I probably would have at least thought about doing the same thing. Actually, I did when..”
He trailed off then, suddenly going quiet and wincing, looking a lot more sheepish. “That’s something to look forward to…” he muttered to himself, realizing suddenly that he was going to have to face Miller now that he was locked up as well, and he wasn’t sure how Nate was going to react to him. Instead, he offered Murphy a soft smile and chuckled out, “Yeah, a lot more serious, but understandable, really.”
